Dr Vladimir Prakht from Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Electrotechnological Systems, Ural Federal University (UrFU), Russia visited EE College on Jan 13th this Tuesday, which was part of schedule of UrFU’s delegation to Zhejiang University led by its vice president. 
Dr Vladimir Prakht was presenting research achievements by his group from Lab of Electromechanics and Electric Motors in UrFU.
Prof. Shen Jianxin, the dean assistant of EE College attended the meeting together with faculties from area of Electric Machines and Electrical Apparatus. In a friendly atmosphere, Prof Shen first introduced briefly teaching, research, international exchanges, and other overall situation about the College. It was then followed by a more detailed presentation on what researches were being carried out by EE faculties and their perspectives on future trend. Dr Vladimir Prakht, currently head of the Laboratory of Electromechanics and Electric Motors of UrFU, showed as well the research achievements made by his group. Both sides hoped that they would take full advantage of their research and teaching sources to explore the possibility of future research collaboration in between. After the meeting, Dr Vladimir Prakht visited labs of the relevant area.
Ural Federal University and Zhejiang University are both members of Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities. It is one of the top ranked scientific centres in Russia carrying out research in natural, formal, technical, social sciences, humanities and arts, economics and management. Since 2008 it bears the name of Boris Yeltsin, the first President of Russia, who graduated from the University in 1955. The university was ranked among 550 top world universities according to QS World University Rankings-2013.
