Invited by Institute of Power Electronics, CEE, Prof. Leon Tolbert (The University of Tennessee, USA) delivered a lecture entitled Power Electronics for Hybrid Electric Vehicles and Distributed Energy Resources at Room 201, Electrical Engineering Building 2 on Mar.4th.
An overview of the power electronics research effort for transportation and utility applications at the University of Tennessee and the U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) was presented. This includes research on power electronics, electric machinery, and packaging for hybrid electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The goals in terms of power density and cost for power train components was discussed as well as current research projects. In addition, the research on power electronics for utility applications such as interface with distributed energy resources was introduced.
