Prof. Kang Chongqing (Deputy Dean from Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University) made a presentation entitled " Power System in Age of Low-carbon Economy " at Electrical Engineering Building of CEE, March 31. The presentation was chaired by Prof. Zhouhao, the deputy director of Institute of Power Economics and Information. Prof. Kang introduced to those present the idea of low carbon economy, the relationship between low carbon economy and power industry, as well as the relevant technology, means, practice and development trends for carbon-based power system.
Prof. Kang’s research interests include power planning, load forecasting, electricity markets, economic performance, low-carbon electricity, etc. He established sequence operation theory, which offers effective solution to problems in power system uncertainty analysis. He is now IEEE Senior Member, and serves as member of editorial board of IJPES, IJPSO, the 2 international journals.
